Restart Your iPhone

When something goes wrong with technology, the first step of troubleshooting is to restart or force restart a device. In this article, we will go over how to restart your iPhone.

The steps to restart an iPhone varies depending on the model you have.


Restart iPhone - Face ID

  1. Press and hold either volume button and the side button until the "slide to power off" screen appears
  2. Tap and slide the slider to the right to power off.
  3. To turn on your iPhone after 30 seconds, press and hold the side button and the volume up button until the Apple logo appears.

Restart iPhone - Touch ID & Side Power Button (SE 2 or 3 & 6 - 8)

  1. Press and hold the side button until the "slide to power off" screen appears.
  2. Tap and slider to the right to power off.
  3. To turn on your iPhone after 30 seconds, press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears.

Restart iPhone - Touch ID & Top Power Button (SE 1 & 2G - 5)

  1. Press and hold the top button until the "slide to power off" screen appears.
  2. Tap and slider to the right to power off.
  3. To turn on your iPhone after 30 seconds, press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears.
